Football League First Division 1929/30

The Football League First Division 1930/31 was the 39th season of the highest English football league . It began on August 30, 1930 and ended on May 2, 1931.

The Arsenal won by seven points clear of Aston Villa , the first English championship in their history. Both newly promoted Blackpool and Chelsea FC were able to keep the class; instead, Leeds United and Manchester United had to move into the Second Division . These two clubs should be replaced in the following season by the two second division promoted Everton FC and West Bromwich Albion .

A total of 533 players were used, with Portsmouth FC having the fewest with 17 and Blackpool FC having the most players in league games with 30. 137 newcomers faced 121 footballers who last came into play in the 1930/31 season. 23 players were able to play all 42 league games of their club.

    The Arsenal FC championship team

The following list lists all players who played in a league game for Arsenal FC during the 1930/31 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of appearances and the goals scored are given in brackets, lastly the number of all first division games up to that point. The Arsenal players had played a total of 2,642 top division games at the end of the season.
