Football League First Division 1903/04

The Football League First Division 1904/05 was the 17th season of the highest English football league . It began on September 1, 1904 and ended on April 29, 1905.

Newcastle United won the English championship for the first time in the club's history by one point ahead of Everton . Due to the league expansion in the following 1905/06 season from 18 to 20 teams, there were no relegated teams this season. Liverpool and Bolton Wanderers, newly promoted to the second division, should be added .

A total of 413 players were used, with Small Heath with 19 the fewest and Nottingham Forest with 28 the most players in league games. 112 newcomers opposed 111 footballers, who last came into play in the 1904/05 season. 11 players were able to play all 34 league games in their club.

    The Newcastle United championship team

The following table lists all players who played in a league match for Newcastle United during the 1904/05 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
