Sandy Turnbull
Alexander "Sandy" Turnbull (* 1884 in Hurlford, Scotland , † May 3, 1917 in Arras , France ) was a Scottish football player .
life and career
Turnbull started his football career at his home club Hurlford Thistle. He later moved to Manchester City . In 1905 the entire team of ManCity was suspended from the football game, which is why Turnbull moved to city rivals Manchester United . The Scot made his first game for the Red Devils on January 1, 1907 against Aston Villa . He was one of the great players who won the first league title (1908) and cup (1909) for United. In total, Turbull played 245 times for the club and scored exactly one hundred goals. He played his last game for the Red Devils in 1915. Turnbull died on May 3, 1917 in the First World War as a member of the 8th Battalion of the East Surrey Regiment of the British Army in Arras , France .
