Football League First Division 1983/84

The Football League First Division 1984/85 was the 86th season of the highest English football league . It began on August 25, 1984 and ended on May 28, 1985.

The Everton won with thirteen points ahead of city rivals and defending champions Liverpool FC 's now eighth championship. Tottenham Hotspur , who were tied on points with Liverpool, were just behind and the new FA Cup winner Manchester United was one point behind . All three newly promoted Chelsea , Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United were able to keep the class. Instead, Norwich City , Sunderland AFC and Stoke City had to move into the Second Division . These were opposed to the three second division promoted Manchester City , Oxford United and Birmingham City for the following season .

A total of 473 players were used, with Arsenal FC and Liverpool having the least with 18 and Stoke City and Luton Town with 26 the most players in league games. 103 newcomers opposed 95 footballers who last came into play in the 1984/85 season. 20 players were able to play all 42 league games of their club.

The championship team of Everton FC

The following list lists all players who played in a league game for Everton during the 1984/85 season. It must be noted that in English football a minimum number of games is usually required in order to receive the official championship medal. Since there was uncertainty about the specific regulation before the introduction of the Premier League, all players who presumably did not receive a championship medal due to their low contribution were marked with an asterisk (*). The number of missions and the goals scored are given in brackets.
