Darren Robert Oldroyd (born November 1, 1966 in Ormskirk ) is a former English football player . As a right full-back , he had only a short time as a professional footballer with only a brief stint for Everton FC in the championship season 1984/85 and an interlude in 1986 for Wolverhampton Wanderers , before his career in the lower amateur leagues lost.

Athletic career

The sporting career of Ormskirk- born Darren Oldroyd began in Liverpool, about 15 miles south, at Everton FC . There he was part of the professional squad from November 1984, but remained in the top-class team that won both the English championship and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985 , as well as in the subsequent 1985/86 season, the "Toffees" the runner-up brought in. His only brief appearance was on May 11, 1985 in the 1-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest when he came on for Alan Harper . In August 1986 he then moved to the Wolverhampton Wanderers , who had just been relegated to the fourth division.

The "Wolves" had reached a historic low in their club history both financially and athletically and the beginning of the 1986/87 season under coach Brian Little with four defeats from the first seven league games was not satisfactory; In addition, the club failed in the first round of the League Cup at Lincoln City FC When Graham Turner took over Little's successor in October 1986, Oldroyd, who was initially set on the right side, fell permanently from the team. He was used in only three championship matches and the contract was terminated before the end of the season. These appearances were also the last at professional level in the Football League and from then on he no longer appeared there. The last known stations were then in the 1988/89 season at Southport FC and later Fleetwood Town and AFC Barrow , all of which are based in the Northern Premier League .

From then on, Oldroyd focused more on training and education work and, in addition to looking after soccer teams, was also involved in various school and community projects in the county of Lancashire . He has been involved with the Milton Keynes Dons Football in the Community project launched by the Milton Keynes Dons from the start and is still employed as a “Community Officer” today.
