Kerry Michael Dixon (born July 24, 1961 in Luton ) is a former English football player .

life and career

The tall and athletic striker's strengths were his speed, headball strength and both legs. He first tried his hand at Tottenham Hotspur as a youth , but left the club without having played there for FC Dunstable (today: Dunstable Town). From 1980 to 1983 he was under contract with Reading FC . Reading FC then paid Dixon £ 20,000. The striker stayed with the third division for three years before being signed by Chelsea in 1983 . The Blues paid the equivalent of around £ 125,000. Another € 25,000 would come if he wore the England national team jersey one time . On his debut for the Blues, he scored two goals in the game against Derby County . Dixon became top scorer of the English top division in 1985 after rising in 1984 along with Gary Lineker . His good performance even brought the Englishman missions for his home country . He made his debut against Mexico in 1985 . The striker scored his first international goal against Germany . Dixon was even in the English national team for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico . Dixon was only used against Poland for six minutes. In total, he played eight times in the team and scored two goals. In 1992 he left the Blues for the equivalent of around £ 575,000 for Southampton FC . The expensive purchase only played nine games and scored two goals. In February 1993 Dixon moved to Luton Town . After two years with the Hatters, he played at Millwall FC and Watford FC . His last player station he had as a player-coach with the Doncaster Rovers . His last coaching position was between 2005 and 2006 as an assistant at Dunstable Town. Nowadays Dixon works as a presenter for Chelsea TV and a contributor to the Blues fansite: www.cfcnet.co.uk. The former professional footballer also gives tours of the home stadium of Chelsea FC, Stamford Bridge .
