James "Jimmy" Brain (born September 11, 1900 in Bristol , † 1971 ) was an English football player and football coach.
life and career
Brain began his career in Wales at Ton Petre FC after failing to audition for Cardiff City . In 1923 he went to Arsenal , which he was loyal to for eight years. He was a member of the first championship team of the Gunners in 1931 and won the English Cup in 1930. He made his debut on October 25, 1924 against Tottenham Hotspur, one of his later clubs. After his last game in the dress of the gunners on March 21, 1931 against Sheffield Wednesday he went for the transfer fee of £ 2,500 to Tottenham Hotspur, where he played only three years. At his next two clubs as an active Swansea Town and Bristol City , he let his career end. After retiring as an active player, he became a 1939 coach for King's Lynn FC, a club from Norfolk . His last coaching station was Cheltenham Town , which he left in 1948. Brain died in 1971.
