Sebastian Wiktor Walukiewicz (born April 5, 2000 in Gorzów Wielkopolski ) is a Polish football player who has been under contract with the Italian first division club Cagliari Calcio since January 2019 . The central defender has also been in action for the Polish U21 national team since September 2019 .

Sebastian Walukiewicz, who was born in Gorzów Wielkopolski , began his football training at the local MKP Gorzów Wielkopolski and played there until Legia Warsaw brought him to their youth academy at the age of 13. In the 2016/17 season, the central defender played regularly in the U19 team and also made his first appearance for the reserve in the fourth-highest Polish division .

In the summer of 2017, Pogoń signed Stettin Walukiewicz for a small training allowance and provided him with a three-year contract. There he played in the reserve and under 19s for the next 2017/18 season and was also listed a few times in the first team's matchday squad in the first half of the season. In April 2018, head coach Kosta Runjaic reassigned him to the men's selection and on April 7, 2018 (30th matchday) he made his debut in the Ekstraklasa in the 3-0 away defeat against his former club Legia Warsaw , when he was 82 Minute of play for Tomasz Hołota was substituted on. In the remaining 2017/18 season , he played two more league games for the Runjaic team.

In the following season 2018/19 , the young defensive man established himself as a regular player early on. On January 15, 2019, the Italian first division club Cagliari Calcio secured the services of the talented Walukiewicz for a transfer fee of four million euros and provided him with a four and a half year contract. As part of the transfer business, however, he immediately moved back to Pogoń Stettin on loan for the remainder of the season. On April 24, 2019 (32nd matchday) he scored his first league goal in the Portowcy jersey in the 3: 4 home defeat against Lechia Gdańsk . He completed 29 league games this season, in which he was able to record a goal.

He began his time in Italy as a substitute player in the 2019/20 season . He was regularly in the matchday squad of head coach Rolando Maran , but was never considered from the start of the season. It was not until December 5, 2019 that he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 2-1 cup win against Sampdoria Genoa . At the turn of the year he also played in the league and under Maran's successor Walter Zenga he finally established himself as a regular player after the forced break due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

National team

Sebastian Walukiewicz played for the Polish U15 , U16 , U17 , U18 and U19 national teams before he was first used in the U20 in September 2018 . With this selection he took part in the 2019 U20 World Cup in his own country. In the competition he played three games and was eliminated with Poland in the round of 16 against Italy. Following the tournament, he made his debut in the U21 .
