João Pedro , whose full name is João Pedro Geraldino dos Santos Galvão (born March 9, 1992 in Ipatinga ), is a Brazilian soccer player who is under contract with Cagliari Calcio in the Italian Serie A.
Career
society
João Pedro played in the junior division of Atlético Mineiro from 2006 to 2010 . On May 23, 2010 he made his debut in the 3-1 victory over Athletico Paranaense in the professional team. Only 3 months later he was signed by the Italian first division club US Palermo . In the attacking midfield, however, the young Brazilian met well-known competition such as Javier Pastore and therefore played mainly in the professional youth league Campionato Primavera. In the second half of the season João Pedro was awarded to the Portuguese first division club Vitória Guimarães . In order to achieve further match practice, the midfielder was loaned out again. This time his path took him to the Club Atlético Peñarol in Uruguay in mid-August 2011 . In the 2011/12 season he scored six goals in 15 games and was the third-best goalscorer for Apertura . He also made eight appearances (one goal) in the 2012 Copa Libertadores .
Since July 2012 he has been under contract with FC Santos in his Brazilian homeland . At the side of star striker Neymar , he was able to gain some match practice here. After another short-term loan deal with the Portuguese club Vitória Guimarães in spring 2013, João Pedro switched to their league competitor GD Estoril Praia in the summer of 2013, also on loan .
For the 2014/15 season , João Pedro moved to Cagliari Calcio .
After a positive doping test for hydrochlorothiazide , João Pedro was banned for six months in 2018.
National team
João Pedro took part with the Brazilian U-17 national team at the U-17 World Cup in 2009 and the U-17 South American Football Championship in the same year. He won the South American Championship with his team on penalties in the final against Argentina .
