Simone Padoin (born March 18, 1984 in Gemona del Friuli ) is an Italian football player . The midfielder , who can also be used in the full-back position, is currently under contract with the second division Ascoli Calcio .
Career
Padoin comes from the youth academy of the Italian first division club Atalanta Bergamo . In 2003 he moved to Vicenza Calcio , with Davide Brivio being transferred in the opposite direction and Bergamo, as is usual in Italy, kept half of Padoin's transfer rights. He made his professional debut at the second division club Vicenza. The midfielder was often used here as a left-back, so he is also able to play this position. During his time in Vicenza, he also made various assignments in Italy's national youth teams, including in the U-21s . A nomination for the senior national team has so far been denied him.
After four years and 122 league games in Vicenza, Bergamo bought the transfer rights again in 2007 and Padoin returned to his youth club, where he was again increasingly used in midfield. With Bergamo Padoin played first class for the first time and was able to play in the club's regular formation. He also extended his contract in May 2009 until the end of the 2012/13 season. In the 2009/10 season he was relegated to Serie B with Bergamo, but managed direct resurgence.
After the first contacts between Padoin and representatives of the traditional club Juventus Turin in preparation for the 2010/11 season , due to Bergamo's relegation , he finally moved to the Bianconeri in January 2012 and signed a five-year contract.
In the summer of 2016, Padoin moved after five Italian championships in a row for a transfer fee of 600,000 euros to Serie A promoted Cagliari Calcio in Sardinia .
After three seasons in Sardinia his expiring contract was not renewed in the summer of 2019, despite its consistently strong performance and he then moved on a free transfer Ascoli Calcio in the Serie B .
