Hanns Malissa (born October 8, 1920 in Bruck an der Mur ; † June 22, 2010 ibid) was an Austrian chemist and university professor for analytical chemistry . Malissa began studying chemistry at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague in 1939 . In 1943 he obtained his doctorate at the Technical University of Graz , where he then worked for several years in various institutes. After working at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research and at various European research institutes, he was appointed Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the Technical University of Vienna in 1959. From 1962 to 1967 Malissa was President of the Austrian Society for Analytical Chemistry (ASAC). In 1978 he and G. Reuter took over the “Microanalytical Laboratory at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research”; the two subsequently founded the “Analytical Laboratories Prof. Dr. H. Malissa and G. Reuter GmbH ”.
