University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague , Czech Vysoká škola chemicko-technologická v Praze , VŠCHT for short , is a Czech university based in Prague .
The history of the formation of the now independent university goes back to the former Prague Polytechnic (later the Czech Technical University in Prague ). Chemistry was taught here from 1806 . After the university was restructured in 1920, the University of Chemical and Technological Engineering ( Vysoká škola chemicko-technologického inženýrství , or VŠCHT ) was established as a faculty . In 1953 the university was spun off from the Czech Technical University in Prague and has existed as an independent university ever since.
