The University of Ostrava or University of Ostrava , also: Ostrava University , Czech: Ostravská univerzita (v Ostravě) , OSU for short , was founded in 1991 in Ostrava .

overview

The origins of Ostrava University lie in the Opava Higher Education School, founded in 1953 . In Ostrava itself there was a Pedagogical Institute from 1959, which was converted into a Pedagogical Faculty in 1964. The university was founded in 1991. In 2006 the Faculty of Art was established. In 1992, the existing district hospital in Ostrava became the university hospital.

In 2006 the university library had a stock of 237,333 media.
