Jan Henryk Köppen (born March 4, 1983 in Gießen ) is a German TV presenter and DJ , best known for his broadcasts on the German music channel VIVA and the channels sixx , Sky , ZDFinfo , ZDFneo , RTL Nitro , RTL , RTL II and in 2014 also on Disney Channel .

Life

After his school days, which he completed with the Abitur in 2002, and the civil service in Gießen, after three semesters of law and business administration studies, he went to Cologne in April 2005 as an intern at the music channel VIVA Plus . He moved with the station to Berlin in November 2005 , where he worked as a volunteer at MTV Networks Germany GmbH until October 2007.

On November 4, 2017, Köppen won the fifth edition of the poker show Final Table on Rocket Beans TV . He played his way to victory against Jeannine Michaelsen , Aurel Mertz , Colin Gäbel , Daniel Budiman , Ingo Mess, LPmitKev and the wildcard winner Marc Blin.

Moderator

Since December 2006 he has been working as a VJ at the music channel VIVA, which was closed on December 31, 2018 . Here he moderated u. a. the programs VIVA Top 100 , VIVA Live! , New , VIVA Liederladen Top 20 and VIVApedia .

From November 2008 to August 2011 he presented the consumer program Wirtschaftswunder on ZDFinfo, which was co-developed by ZDF's WISO editorial team .

In 2009 he co- hosted Staraoke , a children's karaoke show with Bahar Kizil, broadcast by Cartoon Network .

In 2013, together with Amiaz Habtu , he presented the travel and science magazine Abgefahren for the ZDFneo broadcaster. Jan Köppen and “Amiaz” Habtu were nominated for a “German Academy for Television Award 2014” in the “Television Journalism” category.

For the broadcaster sixx he presented six episodes from November 2013 alternating with Marlene Lufen , Mike Süsser and Tarik Rose, the cooktainment show Kitchen Queen - The Pot Duel . At the end of 2013 he presented the ranking show The Most Successful Disney Films of All Time, broadcast on RTL . In December 2013 he also piloted the knowledge program Yps - Die Sendung on RTL Nitro , which started its first season on April 3, 2014 with 10 episodes. In May 2014, he hosted the RTL program I LIKE THE 90 , which dealt with the stories and highlights of the 1990s in five episodes.

In August / September 2014, Köppen hosted the new RTL comedy program What would be if? In a team with Jan Böhmermann , Palina Rojinski and Katrin Bauerfeind . . The show was nominated for the German Television Award in 2014 in the Comedy category.

In autumn 2014 Jan Köppen presented the new program Mission Freundlichkeit - Mein 100 Tage Experiment for the Disney Channel and in October 2014 RTL Nitro broadcast the do-it-yourself show Hammerzeit - The Self-Made Show with the presenter. In January 2015, he hosted the RTL show, Sofa Stars . In April 2015, on the occasion of the start of the fifth Game of Thrones season , Jan Köppen talked about the individual episodes of the new season on the pay-TV provider Sky . The new season of Yps - Die Sendung also started in April on RTL Nitro and the new season in the I LIKE THE ... series with five programs on RTL in June 2015 , this time about the 80s. Since October 2015, RTL Nitro has been broadcasting new episodes of the do-it-yourself show Hammerzeit - The Self-Made Show .

Köppen presented the two seasons of the RTL dance show Dance Dance Dance from September 3, 2016 to October 13, 2017 . He has also moderated and commented on the multi-part game show Ninja Warrior Germany - the strongest show in Germany alongside Frank Buschmann since 2016 .

From April to June 2020 he hosted the love reality show Are You The One? On TVNOW and RTL . .

In addition to his role as a presenter, he plays DJ Cope in clubs ( RnB ). In 2008 and 2009 he gave music tips in the "opinion maker" section of the zoomer.de internet portal . In 2009 he presented a rapped weekly review on www.breitside.de (JAN DMC – NewsRap). At the beginning of 2010 he recorded the song Funkhaus Session with Max von Milland . In 2011 he released the song 1 Moment . In the course of an advertising campaign for the Viva Mobile mobile phone tariff, Jan Köppen was featured in various TV spots with a series of rap songs.

Social Commitment

Jan Köppen has been actively involved in the Junge Helden association founded by Claudia Kotter in 2003. So he supports u. a. With visits to schools, the aim of the association is to provide information about organ donation and to raise awareness of the topic.
