geography

The hamlet is surrounded by arable land and grassland north of Großhabersdorf am Reichenbach, which is a left tributary of the Bibert . In the northwest the field is called Flecken, in the northeast Galgenberg, in the southeast Weiherleiten and in the southwest Schwarzenbachfeld. history

The place was first mentioned in 1288 as "Hornsege". The place name is made up of the Old High German words “horo” (= dirt, swamp) and “sīhan, sigan” (= to fall down, dribble) and indicate a swampy terrain. At that time the place was the seat of an administrative office of the Herrieden monastery .

At the end of the 18th century there were four properties in Hornsegen. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach city bailiff Langenzenn . The manor Neudorf held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over the four farms . In 1800 there were also four properties in the village.

As part of the municipal edict, Hornsegen was assigned to the Deberndorf tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Deberndorf , which was founded in the same year . On January 1, 1972, the municipality was dissolved in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria and Hornsegen was incorporated into Großhabersdorf.
