The district road NEA 18 / FÜ 10 leads to Neukatterbach (0.7 km west) or Meiersberg (2 km north-east). A community connecting road leads past the Riedelshäuslein to Adelsdorf to state road 2413 (2.1 km northwest). Another communal road leads to FÜ 9 near Kreben (1 km south).

history

Katterbach was on a Franconian-Carolingian street called Rennweg. A spacious medieval castle stables on the road to Adelsdorf indicate the importance of the Rennweg, which is considered the predecessor of today's federal road 8 .

In 1164 the place was first mentioned as "Katerbach". In the document, the Würzburg bishop Heinrich II. Von Stühlingen confirmed the tithe exchange between the churches of Heilsbronn and Markt Erlbach that had been carried out by his predecessors Embricho and Gebhard . At the same time, the acquisitions made by Heilsbronn Monastery in 1144 were confirmed in the document . The monastery acquired a total of six farms and ran a sheep farm. Field names such as Schaflehen, Schafgarten, Lämmerbuck, Schaftrieb, Schafhausplatz and Schafhausgarten allude to the sheep farm. In 1369, 474 sheep produced wool and cheese for the monastery. Each farm had to serve the monastery with horses, three farms with wine. In the Thirty Years War in 1631 all properties were destroyed. Resettlement began in 1672.

It was not until Neukatterbach was founded in the 17th century that the place was initially called “Katterbach das alten”, later “Alt Katterbach” and finally “Alt = Katterbach”.

At the end of the 18th century there were four properties in Altkatterbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth municipal bailiff's office in Markt Erlbach . The Neuhof caste office in Brandenburg-Bayreuth held the authority of the village and the community as well as the land rulership over the four farms .

In 1810 Altkatterbach came to the new Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the community edict, it was assigned to the Hirschneuses tax district, formed in 1811, and to the rural community of Kreben in 1813 . With the second community edict (1818) the place was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community Katterbach .

With the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Katterbach was dissolved and incorporated into the municipality of Wilhermsdorf on July 1, 1972, only the district of Neukatterbach was added to the municipality of Neuhof an der Zenn .
