life and work

Kelly Limerick learned to crochet when she was seven and soon taught herself to knit. At that time she mainly made stuffed animals for friends and relatives based on books. She was laughed at by classmates for this hobby. So she secretly knitted at home for a few years.

After school, Kelly Limerick began studying Apparel, Design and Merchandising at Temasek University of Applied Sciences. Although she was reluctant to pursue the commercial orientation of this course and often received bad grades on her work, she successfully completed this course. She then worked temporarily as a graphic designer at an advertising agency before developing her label ハ ナ ナ HANANA . She mainly sells individual mobile phone cases, chokers and other accessories through this label . Kelly Limerick spent nine months in Tokyo from 2014 to 2015 to learn the language there. There she also developed the felt dreadlocks typical of her own look , which she also manufactures and sells as removable hairpieces.

Kelly Limerick also wears her art on her own body and stands out for her unusual clothing style. She has styled her hair into an eye-catching hairstyle with matted, woolen dreadlocks , has multiple piercings on her face and often wears kimonos .

In 2017, she was selected by PUMA as one of the six personalities representing the brand in the Run the Streets advertising campaign . Her biggest project to date was an installation in the same year in the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall in Nanyang, where she showed her art for children during the weeks there on behalf of the Center for National Cultural Heritage. Kelly Limerick's installations have also been shown at the Indian Heritage Center and the Malay Heritage Center. Her works are considered to be inspired by the ethnic diversity of Singapore.
