content
Robert Kant, an extremely successful architect , wants to fly to Shanghai with his future wife, the daughter of his boss, for business reasons , but notices shortly before the plane leaves that he has forgotten his passport. While trying to get it in a hurry, he picks up a rental car from a Chinese named Cheng and races off with it. But then he causes a serious accident in which he destroys an entire truckload of valuable ceramics by the potter Teresa Blümel. This provides first aid and then immediately tries to ask for his personal data for the insurance company, because without the expected compensation it would be ruined. But Robert Kant has lost his memory and cannot help her any further. The police learn that the rental car was last borrowed from said Mr. Cheng, and so Robert Kant is believed to be this Chinese. Doubts about his Chinese identity due to his fluent German and European appearance are dispelled by his profound knowledge of Chinese.
Teresa Blümel finally takes the amnesia sufferer home with her, where he meets her children, who quickly see him as a father substitute. This is followed by a quiet rapprochement between Teresa and Robert, which, due to many similarities and despite some differences, leads to the two falling in love. When Robert Kant finds his missing wallet with ID card at the scene of the accident and later his memory, he could now return to his old life and to his fiancée, but he opts for Teresa.
