Papa und Mama is a two-part television film by Dieter Wedel from 2006. The film was broadcast on January 2nd and 4th, 2006 on ZDF.
action
The two-parter focuses on the divorce of a divorce lawyer. Papa and Mama illustrate the subject of divorce not with a single family story, but with several storylines that are linked by the characters. Ultimately, however, the characters fail to find their way back, everyone continues their life with a different partner.
The comedian Jochen Busse and the ex-wife of tennis player Boris Becker, Barbara Becker , appear in supporting roles .
criticism
The lexicon of international film saw a film "which is 'politically correct' in that the positions of women and men in divorce stories are very balanced". However, “the abundant potential for conflict is hardly used, but only serves for entertainment with a conciliatory outcome”.
The Berliner Zeitung criticized “one old man's joke or the other cliché”, but noted that Wedel as a whole “casually curves around all black and white stencils and never denounces his characters”. Furthermore, it was emphasized that Wedel, unlike his usual practice, relies largely on quite unknown actors, which creates "chamber play-like intensity" and "greater authenticity".
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung also saw it this way: “The film gets the unspent cast. The main actors are outstanding. You believe these couples and also the children their perplexity and desperation. "
The Süddeutsche Zeitung ruled that Wedel had succeeded in his "small and large moments of truth". And: “In two 90 minutes [Wedel] chases the viewer through lakes of tears; and yet there is no lack of humor. "
Audience ratings
The audience ratings for the first part of the two-parter were 7.17 million viewers on Monday evening. The market share of the total audience was 20.3 percent. Among the 14 to 49 year olds, the first part reached 1.9 million viewers with a market share of 13.1 percent.
