The crazy world of Ute Bock is an Austrian feature film that thematizes the everyday life of the Viennese refugee worker Ute Bock , and is the second film portrait about her. The documentary Bock for President , also by the Austrian-Iranian filmmakers Houchang Allahyari and Tom-Dariusch Allahyari, was previously released .
The film can hardly be classified in terms of genre. He moves between socially critical melodrama and black humor. In the film, actions that cannot be documented are re-enacted in a scenic manner. They are based on real events. Actors and cabaret artists such as Josef Hader , Roland Düringer , Karl Markovics , Andreas Vitasek and Viktor Gernot took on guest roles .
action
People in need, mostly refugees, come to Ute Bock's office in Vienna's 2nd district every day . Including an Armenian refugee family who went through a difficult fate. The father suffers from diabetes, the two young sons are severely traumatized and they are looking for a residence permit. The focus is also on the everyday racism of the Austrians, flashing up under a pseudo-liberal guise. Deportation, bureaucracy, weird legal understanding and degrading treatment of people on the part of the police are the central terms that Allahyari deals with.
genre
The crazy world of Ute Bock is a feature film, which is interrupted again and again by interview excerpts with Ms. Bock in the Stadtkino (Vienna) , in which she answers questions from students. In addition to actors, laypeople also act. The game scenes move between dramaturgical staging and documentary character, which gives the film a tragicomic character.
review
“In his second Bock film, the director Houchang Allahyari wants to show the hardship cases that were neglected in the first film. Very good."
Statements from the director
“It's a political, but not a party-political, film, exciting and entertaining. He not only tells the story of asylum seekers but also the story of the 'other side', the police - including police officers who come to Ute Bock with their own problems. "
