NGC 5466 is a globular cluster in the constellation Bearkeeper . NGC 5466 is 9.0 'in diameter and has an apparent magnitude of 9.2 mag. NGC 5466 belongs to the halo of the Milky Way and is around 55,000 light years away from both the solar system and the center of our galaxy. It contains exceptionally low levels of heavy elements, which indicates a very old age.

NGC 5466 belongs to the lowest concentration class XII, with an estimated 100,000 solar masses it is one of the lowest known globular clusters. It is only thanks to its orbit, which keeps it far enough away from the galactic center , that this loosely bound star cluster has not been completely dissolved by the tidal forces for billions of years .
