NGC 5488 = IC 4375 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc and is located in the constellation Centaur in the southern sky . The galaxy has an angular extent of 3.4 '× 1.0' and an apparent magnitude of 11.9 mag.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on June 8, 1837 ( listed as NGC ). Rediscovered in April 1900 by DeLisle Stewart (listed as IC ).
