IC 4356 is a compact lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is around 676 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 95,000 light years .
The galaxies NGC 5378 , NGC 5380 , NGC 5394 , NGC 5395 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on June 19, 1897 by Stéphane Javelle .
