NGC 5380 is a 12.2 mag bright, lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type E-S0 in the constellation of the Hounds and about 145 million light years from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on May 16, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope, who described it as "F, S, R, vsmbM".
