NGC 5456 is a 13.0 mag bright, lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Bear Keeper . It is an estimated 319 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 115,000 ly.
The object was discovered on February 7, 1862 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
