Jørn Elniff
Jørn Elniff (born January 8, 1938 , † July 24, 1991 ) was a Danish drummer in the field of modern jazz .
Life
Elniff began his career in 1952 with Ib Glindemann and then studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen. He worked with Oscar Pettiford , then Finn Savery , before joining Erik Moseholm's trio . In 1961 Elniff was named Musician of the Year by Den Danske Jazzkres and was able to publish his own album.
In the first half of the 1960s he accompanied American musicians such as Eric Dolphy , Stan Getz , Brew Moore , Bud Powell , Dexter Gordon , Don Byas and Lucky Thompson . In the 1970s he played in the trio of Ole Matthiessens and with Duke Jordan . For health reasons he could only appear irregularly afterwards, for example with Atli Bjørn.
