Louis Hjulmand
Louis Hjulmand (born July 30, 1932 in Århus , † December 29, 2008 in Herlev ) was a Danish vibraphonist and composer in the field of modern jazz .
Life
Hjulmand was initially active in the jazz scene in his hometown before moving to Copenhagen in 1959. There he accompanied traveling musicians such as Stan Getz, Brew Moore and Oscar Pettiford. He led his own quartet and also recorded in small formations with Oscar Pettiford and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen . With the Danish Radio Jazz Group he has been documented in productions with Sahib Shihab and Ray Pitts . He also wrote the music for some film and television productions. Since the late 1960s he earned his living in other professions, but remained active as an amateur musician.
