NGC 5445 is a 13.0 mag bright, lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 177 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5440 , NGC 5441 , NGC 5444 , among others .
The object was discovered on May 1, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "vF".
