NGC 5431 is a 14.3 likes bright galaxy from the Hubble type S? in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 266 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 60,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5423 , NGC 5424 , NGC 5434 , NGC 5437 , among others .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Tempel on April 25, 1883 .
