NGC 5422 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Great Bear. It is estimated to be 87 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5443 , NGC 5451 , NGC 5473 , NGC 5475 .
The object was discovered on April 14, 1787 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7-inch mirror telescope.
