NGC 5410 is a 13.2 mag light barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SB? in the constellation hounds . It is an estimated 171 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 75,000 ly. Together with UGC 8932 , it forms a gravitationally bound double galaxy.
On June 1, 2014, a supernova occurred 0.2 "west and 19.4" south of the center of NGC 5410 , which is listed as SN 2014as in the Asiago Supernova Catalog .
The object was discovered on April 9, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "pF, pS, bM".
