Luís Maria Ribeiro Freitas Lobato (born December 21, 1962 ) is an East Timorese health politician and member of the FRETILIN party .

Career

From July 26, 2005, Lobato was East Timor's Deputy Minister of Health, but resigned on June 25, 2006 together with Foreign Minister José Ramos-Horta and Transport Minister Ovídio Amaral in protest against Prime Minister Marí Alkatiri and his behavior during the 2006 unrest in East Timor . After the resignation of Alkatiri, Lobato was restored to his post as Deputy Health Minister under Prime Minister Ramos-Horta on July 14, 2006 and retained it under his successor Estanislau da Silva until the end of the legislative period on August 8, 2007. Lobato's successor was Madalena Hanjam .

In parallel with his cabinet post, Lobato was also President of the East Timor Nurses Association .

On September 29, 2017, Lobato was reappointed Vice Minister of Health and sworn in on October 3. His term of office as Vice Minister ended when the Eighth Government of East Timor took office on June 22, 2018.
