The Poxrucker Sisters (formerly Poxrucker Menscha ) are an Austrian band of new folk music , which mainly makes pop music in the Mühlviertel dialect. The three sisters founded their band in 2008 and have been touring across Austria since then. In 2014, their album Poxrucker Sisters reached a position in the Austrian album charts, where it landed on April 25, 2014 at seventh place, but then quickly disappeared from the charts, only to find its way back into the charts in late summer . Their first single Glick (dt. For happiness ) rose on 19 September 2014 in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and ranked it at No. 62. The sisters trio is from the Vienna-based agency Hoanzl markets whose music label GECO pottery works with the sisters .

history

The band was officially founded in 2008 by the three sisters Stefanie (* 1988), Christina (* 1990) and Magdalena Poxrucker (* 1995) from the small community of Ortisei in the Mühlkreis . Initially, the band specialized mainly in cover versions from English-language pop music, but soon they also resorted to Upper Austrian songs and wrote their own songs. The girls' musicality was encouraged from early childhood, with a lot of singing in the family itself, the girls being enrolled in a music school and being able to make their first public appearances during kindergarten and elementary school. A big step towards founding the band was made in the winter of 2006 when the sisters were asked if they would like to sing at a home evening . This was followed by more regional and national appearances, including at the “Advent at Gut Aiderbichl ”.

On October 10, 2013, the Poxrucker Sisters were represented for the first time in the Ö3 listener charts with the song Nimm da wos mit , which was released as a single on September 20, 2013 . The second single finally followed on November 15, 2013 with the Christmas carol Ois given . The first album Poxrucker Sisters was released on April 11, 2014 by Hoanzl; two weeks later it entered the Austrian album charts at 15th place and on May 9th 2014 it was already at seventh place. This was followed by a rapid decline, with the album completely disappearing from the charts that same month and not making it back into the hit list until the end of August of the same year. Exactly one year after the first placement in the Ö3 listener charts, the sisters were represented in this hit list again; this time even on rank 2.

With the single Glick , the Upper Austrian trio also made their first entry into the Ö3 Austria Top 40 , whereby the song was ranked 62nd as a new entry. About a month later, the single was already at number 39. In the run-up to this, the band had various appearances and live studio appearances on Ö3 or on television, including with heute Leben on ORF 2 . In addition, the single was not only released on the debut album, which was released in April, but was also featured on the Libro edition of the 67th edition of the Ö3 Greatest Hits , which went on sale on October 17, 2014. Of Universal Music Austria (including with Eberhard Forcher ) was the most 26 September 2014 compilation album Austro zone published, which debuted in the top 5 of the album charts. The three sisters' single was also represented on this.

Private

Stefanie, the oldest of the sisters, works in her private life as a representative for youth pastoral care in the Upper Mühlviertel region. In addition, she regularly presents the folk culture program G'sungen and plays on Radio Upper Austria . The middle sister, Christina, is on maternity leave (as of October 2019) and the youngest sister, Magdalena, is a music teacher in Traun.
