Carrington-Brown are a British music and comedy duo founded in 2007 by cellist and singer Rebecca Carrington and singer - actor Colin Brown . The duo plays with a variety of musical styles such as pop , Bollywood , opera and jazz . The Sunday Times described this mixture as an "elegant musical stand-up".

Rebecca Carrington received a scholarship from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester , England in 1990 and received her Masters in Music from Rice University in Houston , Texas in 1997 . Carrington first came into contact with the comedy scene while studying in the USA : a friend encouraged her to perform at an open mic night. In 1996 she made her first appearances on major stages such as the New York Comedy Club and the Comedy Store in Los Angeles . She got airtime on popular TV and radio shows such as CBS , NBC and ITV , as well as performing at festivals in the UK and Europe . In parallel, she played as a cellist with the London Symphony Orchestra , the Philharmonia Orchestra , the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra . During this time she decided to switch from the orchestra to the solo stage. As a freelance cellist, she can be heard on soundtracks to films such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings and has played on their albums with artists such as Aretha Franklin , Paul McCartney , David Byrne and Jill Scott .

Colin Brown began his career as a performing artist at the age of 25, when he for the West End musical Carmen Jones was hired. He then appeared on stage, in film and television across all genres and later also took on speaking roles. Brown starred in productions such as La Cage aux Folles , Smokey Joe's Café , Driving Miss Daisy and Les Enfants du Paradis with the Royal Shakespeare Company . In 1996 he became a member of the British a cappella group The Magnets . He performed with the Magnets for more than ten years, including as tour opening act for Lisa Stansfield , Tom Jones and Michael Ball . Brown began studying at the Rose Bruford Acting School in 1997 but continued to work as a professional artist. In 2006 he was background singer for Robbie Williams on his "Close Encounters" world tour.

Carrington and Brown met in Edinburgh in 2004 at the Fringe Festival, where they both performed. Brown then directed Carrington's solo program for a year, with which she made guest appearances in Edinburgh in 2005 and 2006. They have been performing as a duo since 2007.

They live together in Berlin and play as Carrington-Brown on international stages.

"Me & My Cello" is a show that Carrington created for himself in 1996 and which was originally designed as a solo performance. Carrington-Brown later changed the program to include Brown in it. It began as Carrington's musical journey around the world with her cello named Joe. Brown now participates mainly with bagpipe music. He learned how to use the instrument at the age of 11 with the London Boys Brigade .

Since the first joint performance of “Me & My Cello” in 2007, the duo have written and performed three new shows, for which they have received numerous international awards. The duo has already performed in many European countries, as well as in the USA , Canada and India . Carrington-Brown play their program mainly in German and English , but also in French and Spanish .

The inspiration for her current show "Dream a little Dream" comes from stories from the couple's life in Berlin and their travels around the world. The show encompasses a wide variety of styles of music, from pop to opera and from jazz to Bollywood, with the two artists incorporating experiences from their previous careers.
