Roman Bunka (born December 2, 1951 in Frankfurt am Main ) is an oud player, guitarist , composer and a pioneer of the “ world music ” scene.

Life

In the 1970s he played with Embryo , Mal Waldron , Charlie Mariano , Missus Beastly , Aera and Trilok Gurtu . In the 1980s he founded the band "Your head is a sleeping car" and worked with Mohamed Mounir , Abdu Dagir , dissidents and Fathy Salama . In the 1990s he began composing film music for directors such as Heiner Stadler , Fritz Baumann and Doris Dörrie . Today he combines these experiences in order to present new projects as a “border crosser” and to promote the dialogue between musical cultures.

In 2010 he recorded the song Yasmine (together with Mohamed Mounir ) with the band Ich + Ich for the album Gute Reise . He was also on the Ich + Ich tour 2010 and the Bundesvision song contest .

Roman Bunka lives in Munich.
