Luis Borda

Luis Borda (born July 18, 1955 in Lincoln ) is an Argentine guitarist. He is considered the most important representative of Tango Nuevo .

Borda studied harmony and composition with Osvaldo Lupi and Alberto Coronato . He played in the quintet of the bandoneonist Rodolfo Mederos and recorded the first album with the band Ave Rock at the age of seventeen . In 1982 he founded his own band, the Luis Borda Trio , with whom he recorded two albums and toured Argentina. In 1984 he expanded the ensemble into Luis Borda Quinteto , with whom he also appeared for the first time in Germany , Austria and the Netherlands . He also worked with musicians such as León Gieco , Dino Saluzzi , Roman Bunka , Emilio Del Guercio , Litto Nebbia , Bernardo Baraj , Lito Vitale , Juan Falú , Quique Sinesi and his sister, the tango singer Lidia Borda .

From 1994 to 1995 he produced the CD De Madrugada for the tango singer Luis Cardei . Borda has lived in Germany since 1996, from where he performed with the newly cast quintet at various European festivals and recorded several CDs.

Borda also emerged as a composer. In the 1990s, his scores were published by Tonos Verlag , and he composed the music for Arne Birkenstock's film 12 Tangos - Adios Buenos Aires (2005) . 2010 produces and arranges Lidia Borda's CD: "Manzi, Caminos de Barro y Pampa".
