Julio Pane

Julio Pane (born November 30, 1947 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine bandoneon player.

Life

Pane learned to play the bandoneon from his father and an uncle and, at the age of thirteen, performed with his father at Carnival celebrations in Buenos Aires. He then studied with Julio Ahumada , with whom he performed together from 1965 to 1969.

In 1969 Edmundo Rivero brought him to his group El Viejo Almacén , where he replaced the sick bandoneon player Ciriaco Ortiz . In the following years he performed in Buenos Aires with musicians such as Enrique Mario Francini , Osvaldo Manzi , Armando Pontier , Atilio Stampone , Héctor Stamponi , Miguel Caló , José Basso , Leopoldo Federico and Osvaldo Tarantino .

In 1983 Pane became a bandoneon soloist in the Orquesta del Tango de la Ciudadde Buenos Aires under the direction of Carlos García and Raúl Garello . In 1989 he became a member of Astor Piazzolla's sextet and traveled with him through Canada and the United States. After Piazzolla's death in 1992 he appeared as a soloist with the Toulouse Symphony Orchestra and the Dresden Philharmonic - both times under the direction of Raúl Garello.

In 1995 he recorded the album Piazzolla x Piazzolla with Daniel Piazzolla , son of Astor Piazzolla . With this as well as Gary Burton and Chick Corea he appeared in 1997 in the program Astortango in memory of Piazzolla. At the same time he founded a trio with the pianist Nicolás Ledesma and the bassist Enrique Guerra . His first album A Las Orquestas was released in 2000. In addition to numerous concert tours with his trio, he performed a. a. with the Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colón , the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Córdoba . With the Sinfónica de Mendoza he performed Horacio Salgán's oratorio Carlos Gardel under the direction of the composer. In 2005 he worked in Arne Birkenstock's film 12 Tangos - Adios Buenos Aires .

Pane's album Un placer was nominated for a Premio Carlos Gardel . He has been a member of the Premios Clarín jury since 2003 . With Leopoldo Federico , Rodolfo Mederos , Osvaldo Piro , Ernesto Baffa , Walter Ríos and others, he belongs to the Selección Nacional de Tango . Pane's students include a. Marcelo Nisinman , Gustavo Toker , Pablo Mainetti and Mariano Signa .
