Raúl Garello (born January 3, 1936 in Chacabuco , † September 29, 2016 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine bandoneonist, orchestra conductor and tango composer.

biography

From 1949 to 1953 Garello played in Héctor Marsiletti's orchestra in his hometown . He then went to Buenos Aires, where he became a member of the Radio Belgrano orchestra (founded in 1923). He worked u. a. with the orchestra of Mario Brugni , accompanied the singer Carlos Dante and made recordings with Roberto Pansera . With the bandoneonists Alfredo de Franco and Osvaldo Piro he joined the accompaniment orchestra of Alberto Morán , which he later directed.

From 1963 to 1975 Garello was a bandoneonist and arranger in Aníbal Troilo's tango orchestra. He also wrote arrangements for the orchestras of Enrique Francini and Leopoldo Federico . From 1965 he worked as an accompanist for singers such as Roberto Goyeneche , Rubén Juárez , Floreal Ruiz , Roberto Rufino , Eladia Blázquez , Edmundo Rivero , Dyango and Susana Rinaldi . In 1974 he made his debut with his first own ensemble, the sextet El viejo almacén .

In 1980 he founded the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires with Carlos García . With Horacio Ferrer he composed the numbers for the album Viva el Tango from 1987-88 , and later also the series Tangos en Homenaje a Woody Allen . In 1988 he worked with his orchestra on the film Tango for two by Héctor Olivera , in 1989 he appeared at the Tango Festival in Granada and in 1990 at the renowned Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In the mid-1880s, the Toulouse Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Michel Plasson and with the soloists Julio Pane and Salvador Giaimo, recorded Garellos arrangements of compositions by Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Le Peras .
