Roberto Goyeneche

Roberto Goyeneche (born January 29, 1926 in Argentina, † August 27, 1994 ibid) was an Argentine tango singer who represented the archetype of the Bohemian in Buenos Aires in the 1950s. He was a living legend in the local music scene.

Life

In 1944, at the age of 18, Roberto Goyeneche joined Raúl Kaplún's orchestra after winning a competition and shortly thereafter made his debut in a live performance on Radio Belgrano. In 1952 he teamed up with Horacio Salgán and in 1956 with Aníbal Troilo . From 1963 he appeared as a solo singer and was the first to record Balada Para Un Loco by Astor Piazzolla . In the 1980s Goyeneche guest starred in the films El Exilio de Gardel and Sur directed by Pino Solanas .

He was nicknamed El Polaco (The Pole) because of his blonde hair . He is identified with the Saavedra district in which he grew up.

Goyeneche died in 1994. He was buried in the Chacarita cemetery.
