Lidia Borda (born April 18, 1966 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine tango singer.

Life

Borda studied art, acting and singing and gained first experience as an actress in the alternative scene in Buenos Aires. Her acquaintance with Luis Cardei aroused her interest in tango music, and she developed a repertoire of tango compositions from the 1930s and 1940s, including many that were composed or sung by women and largely forgotten.

She made her debut as a singer in 1995, accompanied by her brother, guitarist Luis Borda and bandoneon player Héctor Del Curto . In 1996 her debut album Entre sueños was released . In 1999 Patio de tango appeared with singer and guitarist Brian Chambouleyron . She also performed at festivals in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Norway in the 1990s. In Buenos Aires she took part in the Festival Internacional de Tango .

In 2005 she was awarded the honorary diploma of the Konex Prize in the category "female tango singer".
