Santiago Vázquez
Santiago Vázquez (* 1787 in Montevideo , † 1847 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) was a Uruguayan politician and diplomat .
Life
Vázquez took part in the siege of Montevideo between 1825 and 1828 to liberate the city from Brazilian occupation. Later he was one of the 28 members who belonged to the Asamblea General Constituyente y Legislativa del Estado between the years 1828 and 1830 and who drafted the first Uruguayan constitution.
Under the government of José Fructuoso Rivera , he held the post of Foreign Minister of Uruguay from August 16, 1832 to October 9, 1833, and from November 11, 1838 to February 6, 1839 . During the reign of Joaquín Suárez 'he held this position again from February 3, 1843 to April 6, 1846.
At the same time as his third term as Foreign Minister, he held from November 4, 1841 to February 15, 1843 (4th legislative period December 30, 1839 - February 15, 1843), as well as during the entire 5th legislative period (February 23, 1843 - 9th. February 1846) a mandate as senator for the department Paysandú in the Cámara de Senadores .
