Nikolai von Koslowski (born February 3, 1958 in Esslingen ) is a German radio director and journalist. His productions have received numerous awards, including the Robert Geisendörfer Prize for several years since 1999. The feature "Die Stammheim -Bänder", which he directed under his direction, received the German Audio Book Prize in 2009 .

His directorial style is characterized by reduction and rhythm. Many productions derive their elegance from the actors' low-key speaking posture and the sparse use of music and noises.

Life

Nikolai von Koslowski grew up in Düsseldorf, Hanover and Munich. He studied communication science at the LMU Munich and began working for the youth radio department of the Bavarian broadcasting company " Zündfunk " in the early 1980s . There he developed the style for speaker management and direction that was typical for him later. Many new spark ignition concepts from the 1980s can be traced back to him, including the "Blitzventil" series. The journalist Lorenz Schröter rode his bike around the world and regularly sent diary reports on tape cassettes to the radio house, which Koslowski then processed on the radio. The first computer broadcast on ARD, " Bit, byte, bitten " (BR 1983), was von Koslowski's idea. A little later, a weekly magazine about computers for young listeners was created under the same title.

In 1988 he moved to Berlin and began to work for the Sender Free Berlin (SFB) in the environment of Peter Leonhard Braun . Out of his affinity to historical original sounds, the 100-part series "Moments of History - Composition of Memory", which he was the author and producer of, arose in 2000, which was later repeated several times on ARD. The series created an acoustic image of the respective year from collaged archive tones without any intermediate texts within three to four minutes.

From then on, Nikolai von Koslowski's employment as director of the feature editorial team at the SFB (later RBB) increased significantly. Today he produces features, documentaries and, again and again, radio plays - for all ARD broadcasters as well as Deutschlandradio. In 2012/2013 he was the coach of the EBU Master School on Radio Features .

Nikolai von Koslowski lives in Berlin.
