Valeri Scherstjanoi

Valeri Scherstjanoi (Russian Валерий Михайлович Шерстяной; born September 3, 1950 in Sagiz , Kazakh SSR, Soviet Union) is a phonetic poet, radio play author and creator of onon poetical notations (scribetic sheets). He writes his texts mainly in German. Valeri Scherstjanoi has been a German citizen since 1985.

Life

Scherstjanoi has been giving appearances and literary performances on the subject of "Russian Futurism" since 1968. He completed his German studies at the Cuban State University in Krasnodar . At the beginning of the 80s, after moving to the GDR , he gave readings and lectures in the gallery "above" in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Chemnitz) and in the student center "Moritzbastei" in Leipzig, as well as appearances with Carlfriedrich Claus at the Exhibition “Sails of Time - Salut Chlebnikow” in the Lindenau Museum Altenburg 1985 and the performance “Victory over the Sun” for the 100th birthday of Alexej Krutschonych with Carlfriedrich Claus, Rudolf Mayer and Wolfgang Heisig .

At international festivals, including in Berlin , Marseille , Brno , Québec , Prague , Geneva , Ghent , Stockholm , Graz , Salzburg , Vienna , Chicago , Bologna , Wroclaw , London , Madrid , Toulouse , Utrecht , Lucerne , Amsterdam , Rotterdam , Kaliningrad , Lyon , Maastricht , Luxembourg , Rome , Basel and Mantova , he gave sound concerts with his own poetry and lectures on the Russian avant-garde of the 1910s and 1920s.

He gave sound concerts with poems by Wladimir Mayakowski , Alexej Krutschonych, Velimir Chlebnikow , Daniil Charms , Kurt Schwitters , Raoul Hausmann and his own texts.

In the 1990s Scherstjanoi had appearances with Michael Lentz , with Jaap Blonk , among others as "The Vowel Triangle". From 1994 to 1996 he was artistic director of the international festival of sound poetry “Bobeobi” in the “Wabe” in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg.

At the “Musica Viva” he was involved in reciting the “Symphony No. 3 - Jesus, Messiah, errette uns!” By Galina Ustwolskaja (1919–2006) with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the conductor Markus Stenz . In 2005 there was an appearance as speaker with the ensemble "L´Art pour L´Art" and actor as well as speaker and sound poet in Matthias Kaul's children's opera project "Oliver Twist" of the Hamburg State Opera.

In 2007 Scherstjanoi performed in Berlin with the “Kairos Quartet”. In 2008 he was a lecturer in the “Experimental Poetry” master class in the Swabian Art Summer at the Irsee Schwabenakademie. From 2009 to 2010 he was visiting professor in the winter and summer semesters at the German Literature Institute at the University of Leipzig .

From 1990 to 2000 he was a member of the Bielefeld Colloquium “New Poetry”. From 2005 to 2011 Scherstjanoi was a member of the Free Academy of Arts in Leipzig . In 2010 he was awarded the Alice Salomon Poetics Prize. From 2012 to 2013 he was again visiting professor in the winter semester at the German Literature Institute at Leipzig University .

In the 2012/2013 season Scherstjanoi was a guest at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, as a performer and sound poet for the production “DADA Berlin” directed by Rainald Grebe . From 2014 to 2015 he was again a visiting professor in the winter and summer semesters of the German Literature Institute at Leipzig University. In 2017 he worked as a guest lecturer in the summer semester at the German Literature Institute at Leipzig University. In June 2017 he had the Ernst Jandl Lecturer in Poetics at the University of Vienna.
