Ulrich Chaussy (2015)

Ulrich Chaussy (* 1952 in Karlsruhe ) is a German journalist and non-fiction author who gained notoriety through his research into the Munich Oktoberfest attack.

biography

Chaussy moved to Munich in 1965 , attended the Wittelsbacher Gymnasium and studied German and sociology . After graduating, he began to work as a journalist for radio ( BR , WDR , and Radio Bremen ) and published numerous non-fiction books.

On suspicion that bombs were being built there, police officers with submachine guns stormed the community of Chaussy in 1977. However, this turned out to be misinformation.

Ulrich Chaussy is an avowed critic of the official investigation result ("single perpetrator thesis") of the Oktoberfest attack. His decades-long struggle to resume the investigation in the case of the assassination, which he led together with the lawyer Werner Dietrich , is described in the feature film The Blind Spot . Chaussy and filmmaker Daniel Harrich describe in the TV documentary “Assassin. Lone perpetrator? News from the Oktoberfest attack ”. All previous research by Chaussys and Daniel Harrich can be followed as interactive web documentation.

Chaussy was the initiator of a referendum against the closure of city libraries and in 2004 founded a support association called books & more .
