Gerd R. Ueberschär

Gerd Rolf Ueberschär (born August 18, 1943 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German military historian . He is best known for his work on the time of National Socialism and the Second World War .

Live and act

Gerd R. Ueberschär studied history , political science and geography at the University of Frankfurt . After the state examination , he worked as a research assistant at the History Department of the University of Frankfurt, first with Paul Kluke and after his retirement with Klaus Hildebrand . In 1976 he was with the work Hitler and Finland 1939-1941. German-Finnish relations during the Hitler-Stalin pact with Dr. phil. PhD . For his dissertation he evaluated the diary of Wehrmacht general Waldemar Erfurth (1879–1971).

Afterwards he was a research assistant at the Military History Research Office in Freiburg and from 1986 lecturer at the University of Freiburg . From 1996 to 2005 he worked as a historian and archivist at the Federal Archives-Military Archives in Freiburg.

His book Stauffenberg. July 20, 1944 was created as a scientific booklet for the ARD film Stauffenberg by Jo Baier .

Gerd R. Ueberschär is married to Ute Ueberschär-von Livonius and lives in the Freiburg district of Sankt Georgen .
