Winfried Vogel (born July 21, 1937 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a retired German Brigadier General . D. and publicist.

Vogel joined the Bundeswehr in 1956 . From 1958 he was used as platoon leader and company commander in the training battalion of Army Officer School II in Husum and Hamburg. In 1968 he became S3 on the staff of the Troops Office in Cologne. In 1970 he was appointed to the management staff of the then Federal Minister of Defense Helmut Schmidt . From 1972 he was the personal assistant to the Parliamentary State Secretaries Karl Wilhelm Berkhan and Hermann Schmidt . From 1977 to 1979 he was deputy commander of the Panzer Grenadier Brigade 24 in Landshut. In 1979 he became head of the department for internal management , public relations and recruiting for the army in the command staff of the army (Fü HI 3). In 1981/82 he was in command of the 29th Panzer Brigade in Sigmaringen. Promoted to Brigadier General in 1982 , he was then subdivision manager SI (General Social Affairs). In 1984 he took over the post of Deputy Head of the Armed Forces Office in Bonn. From 1992 to 1997 he was President of the European Military Press Association .

Retired in 1997, he is a member of the board of the association "History and Remembrance, Association for the Promotion of the Exhibition, War of Extermination - Crimes of the Wehrmacht 1941–1944" and is a member of the advisory board of the " White Rose Foundation ". In 2004 he was awarded the prize of the Robert Bosch Foundation (Stuttgart) for his work within the framework of the non-profit Orenburg Foundation "Eurasia" .
