Steven Peter Waddington (* 1968 in Leeds , West Riding of Yorkshire ) is a British actor .

Life

Steven Waddington was able to gain his first acting experience in his youth through school performances and small parts of regional television productions, including in the award-winning soap opera Emmerdale . Shortly after his eighteenth birthday, he received a place at the East 15 Acting School . In 1989 he finished his training there and became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company , with which he was then active in Stratford and Newcastle upon Tyne .

Through the agency of the actor Nigel Terry , Waddington was able to take on the leading role of the title-giving English king in the historical film drama Edward II in 1991 . A year later he played a major role again with the role of Major Heyward in Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans . Steven Waddington's other film roles include Mr. Killian in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Prasutagus in Boudica (2003) . He was able to take on another leading role in 2001 in the British film production The B-Team: Restricted and on Probation .

In addition to his work as a film actor, Waddington also appeared repeatedly as an actor in television series . He played the role of King Richard twice in the series Robin Hood (2007) and Heroes and Villains: Richard the Lionheart (2007). In 1997 he was cast in the BBC production Ivanhoe , which was based on the book of the same name by the writer Sir Walter Scott , in the title role of Wilfred von Ivanhoe.

Waddington is married with one son.
