Robin Hood is a British television series about the hero of the same name . The series was produced for BBC One by Tiger Aspect Productions between 2006 and 2009.
action
After Robin of Locksley, Earl of Huntington, comes out of the war with his personal servant Much and goes back to England with him, Robin realizes that he has to fight evil not in distant Palestine but at home. The country is ironically ruled by the Sheriff of Nottingham, Vaisey, along with his assistant, Guy of Gisborne. Robin rises against the sheriff as three boys from his village are about to be executed for nothing. Together with a gang of outlaws, he takes up the fight against evil. He robs the rich and gives it to the poor. At the same time he tries to thwart the sheriff's sinister plans. He gets support from Lady Marian, who is courted by Guy of Gisborne.
production
On October 24, 2005, Jane Trauter announced that the series would be produced for 2006, which will serve as the place filler for Doctor Who . On February 18, 2006, the Daily Mirror announced that Jonas Armstrong had won the lead role in Robin Hood, which was officially confirmed by BBC One on April 3, 2006. Filming began in Hungary in April 2006 . The budget for the first season was eight million pounds.
On November 23, 2006, the broadcaster announced the production of a second season, which was filmed in March 2007.
In January 2009 the series was discontinued by the BBC. The reason given was the falling ratings and the fact that the two main actors Jonas Armstrong and Keith Allen wanted to leave the series after the third season.
