Clive Standen
Clive James Standen (born July 22, 1981 in Holywood , County Down , Northern Ireland ) is a British actor .
Life
Standen was born on a British military base in Holywood , County Down , Northern Ireland and moved to Leicestershire , East Midlands when he was two . He went to the King Edward VII School in Melton Mowbray . He then attended Melton Mowbray College for performing artists. Aside from acting, he was an internationally successful Muay Thai boxer in his youth .
In 2007 he married his girlfriend Francesca at Babington House. They live in London with their three children .
Clive Standen claims to have a passion for environmental protection . He is an official ambassador for Sea Shepherd UK . In collaboration with this marine protection organization, he shot a video in which he speaks out against the “barbaric” whaling off the Faroe Islands .
Career
He made his first experience as a stuntman in a professional stunt team in Nottingham . This was followed by appearances at the National Youth Theater and the National Youth Music Theater . Later, Standen received a place for a 3-year course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art .
He first appeared on television in 2004 in a guest role on Waking the Dead . He then made appearances in the documentaries Ten Days to D-Day and Zero Hour . The following year he starred as Charlie Halliday for three episodes on Soap Doctors . In the same year he had a role in the film Tom Brown's Schooldays . His best-known role was that of Private Harris in three episodes of the science fiction television series Doctor Who . This was followed by roles in the films Heroes And Villains and Namastey London . In 2009 he got a lead role as Archer in the third season of Robin Hood , but the series was discontinued after the season.
After the end of Robin Hood he got a leading role as Gawain in the Starz television series Camelot . But this series was discontinued after only 10 episodes. In 2011 and 2012 he made the films Eating Dust and Hammer of the gods . In June 2012 he was cast for the role of Rollo in the history television series Vikings , which has aired since January 2013.
