Jasmeet Singh lives in London with her father Manmohan Singh and mother Bebo. The young Indian calls herself jazz, likes to hang out at parties - and has a white boyfriend named Charlie Brown. Papa doesn't like that at all: he decides to travel to India with the family to find a husband for jazz. After a long search, they land in Manmohan's homeland, the Punjab. There again, Papa notices the neat Arjun, the son of a friend. The marriage is arranged immediately and jazz complies. But Jazz hardly leaves her husband standing back in England: According to English law, marriage is not valid, she only participated in order to get out of India unhindered. The deeply sad Arjun stays in London and since he has loved jazz since the first eye contact, he takes care of her well-being.
